Who Aquired What
There is a big discussion around Web 2.0 projects and acquisition of new startups by big companies since last year. Rumors became the best food for many popular blogs, thing that personally don't tolerate too much on PHP Magazine Network, even that it can attract a lot of readers to be the first source of the rumor.
No more than yesterday, TechCrunch announced that MyLogBlog to be acquired by Yahoo! In addition to two others Bix and Kenet Works. Later today the title changed from "to be Acquired" to "in Acquisition Discussions" after that one of Yahoo’s PR firms emailed them to inform that the story is inaccurate.
Such rumors can have big influence on many decisions especially if it is issued from popular blog very well-known such TechCrunch. I don't blame them for posting rumors, after all a blog is a blog, they can post anything they want. But readers, especially professional, have to be careful about news and rumors related to acquisitions and startups news. Certainly a rumor from official sources is different from a rumor with an unknown sources, and such disinformation can only result failure of the startups model.
